Website Design Theory

Since I think I know what I mean.

I recently was linked to the BlogStorm SEO blog, and noticed that they were up-in-arms about Google changing their PageRank algorithms, which hurt a number of blogger's positions (and feelings).

Let me share a little secret with you: Google is not your god.

Seriously! People who worry about PageRank and track these minute changes in their rankings are crazy. Especially 90% of all the blogs out there. Let me tell you how to get eyeballs to your site:

Generate content.

The internet likes new things! Imagine that! I don't blame Google for devaluing blogs in their search results. Take a handful of blogs that you read daily. In fact, let's just go to the experts on the subject. Peruse the list. Come back here when you're done.

Back? Good. What did you notice? All the top blogs generate content for most of their posts. The Signal/Noise ratio is nice and high for all the most popular blogs.

Consider what you're doing with your blog. Are you just regurgitating what other people have said, or are you saying something worth listening to?
