What is the most annoying thing about the internet? It's fans. Fans of anything, really. Think about it. At what point does the line between encouragement and annoyance get crossed?
One of the most lethal things on DeviantArt and related community galleries is the comments and slavish followers of certain artists. Most skilled artists do not want lines and lines of "Oh, that's awesome!! :P :P ;) ." That's bullshit. Hot air. It adds nothing of value to the art. Same goes with any and all requests, no matter how dripping with praise. "Wow, your skills are amazing, but do you think that you might be able to draw my character [link] [link] [link]?" You fucking morons. How would you like it if people constantly bugged you to do things that take up hours of time for no compensation?
This sort of behavior can and will lead to the eventual alienation of artists from the public. It's got to stop! Users must be discouraged from adding onto a conversation unless their contribution adds something. Webmasters have to discourage Bullshit.
